Love is Practice - 1st Meditation

LOVE MEDITATION 3.2.23

LOVE YOURSELF

Hello! And happy Friday to you.

We will start this series of four love meditations with one dedicated to loving ourselves. More concretely a self in the past that needed that love and could not have it. But this is not the kind of self-love that is commercially sought after or that can dangerously step into full-blown individualism.

The love for ourselves that we will implement in the first few meditations in this series, is about loving myself so that I can be my best version. And be my best version, so that I can bring that into the world and be the best for others.

You have probably heard before "Hurt people hurt people." I've found it more interesting to look at it from another point of view: Happy people don't hurt others. And thus, how can I be the happiest version of myself?

Before you start:

  • Find a quiet and comfortable private space to practice for 20 minutes. The more special the place is for you and the more trust, safety, and comfort you feel in that space, it will be easier for your mind to dive deeper into the meditation.
  • If you can't have a quiet space, which I want to acknowledge is not always available for everyone, use headphones.
  • Find a comfortable position, sitting, standing, or lying down. The best one is sitting, on a cushion or a chair, but if that is not available to you right now, choose any of the other two. The most important thing is that your spine is elongated and you feel comfortable.
  • And finally, prepare the two memories I asked you to ponder about in the previous email, once they are clear in your mind, let them go. If something else shows up during the meditation that is completely fine. Let your mind flow and bring to your awareness whatever it feels you need to look at right now. Don't fight it, don't avoid anything, and don't struggle, just observe as if you were watching a movie and accept everything that comes as a gift that your mind is giving you.

When you are ready, click below and start directly listening to the meditation from Soundcloud or you can download it and listen to it on your favorite way and device.

I will progressively delete each recording to make space for new ones, so make sure you download them before the next Friday. If you forget, feel free to email me.

If you have any questions or comments, please do write me back and I'll get back to you.

I wish you a wonderful meditative experience.

From my heart to each of yours,
Sally

LOVE MEDITATION 24.2.23 LOVING OTHERS Happy Friday! Here we are, at the end of a loving journey. An end that isn't the end at all, just an introduction to what the love meditations can do for you, your life, the lives of others, and even the entire planet. You might think I'm exaggerating. But think again. At the beginning of the war in Ukraine, my teacher Hector Marcel gave a class on what we could do about it from a Buddhist perspective. He said that if anyone had the power to have an...

LOVE MEDITATION 10.2.23 CONSISTENT SELF-LOVE Hello! Sally here, sneaking some love into your long list of emails on this second Friday of February. I hope this email finds you well and excited to jump into the second meditation of the love series we are working on this month. I invite you to take a moment, and think about how you treat yourself and others when you don't love yourself too much. You know, those times when you feel weak, uninspired, hopeless, sad, or angry with yourself. Those...
